What’s Trending In The World Of Event Planning

Every year, planners all over the world descend on Las Vegas to attend the world’s largest and possibly the best, incentive travel show. October is the time to head to Sin City to connect with our suppliers and see what’s new, upcoming or interesting in the event world: destinations, hotels, venues and merchandise!

Going to IMEX is like speed dating … you make your appointments prior to the show on a 30-minute schedule. Once the show opens, it’s a crazy atmosphere of thousands of people rushing from one booth to the next as they navigate the massive floor show to find their next appointment. You have 30 minutes to learn all you can about that supplier and for them to learn a little about us in return. I like to leave some time open in my agenda to roam the floor and look for new destinations/suppliers, and if possible, stop in to have a quick chat. Sometimes, this is the best way to discover something new!

Attending IMEX is somewhat like being a participant on a program. All the logistics are in place and incredibly well run. Airport and show shuttle transfers are provided (if you are lost, just look for the IMEX staff in the red shirts – they are everywhere) so getting to and from the show is easy. At the show, there is a great Buyers Lounge where you can grab some complimentary coffee and snacks, get help with your travel plans, show agenda and more.

There is always great entertainment on the show floor from jazz musicians to massive puppets that escort you to the show floor. There’s even a 7 am morning run for those who have the energy!

The show doesn’t stop at 5 pm … it keeps going and going…. just like Vegas! There are plenty of supplier dinners and events to attend, where you can further network with the show vendors. There’s always great food and beverages, entertainment, décor and giveaways. Another benefit of being the participant for a change!

After two full days of non-stop walking and talking (my calves were sore from so much walking), it was time to head home with all my new-found knowledge, to showcase to our valued clients.

IMEX America is a great workout for the Body & Mind!
